The Evil Eye is the 22nd episode of Colonel Bleep.

Synopsis

While Colonel Bleep sets out to survey a sea of liquid air, Black Patch plots an ambush.

Plot

Colonel Bleep has arrived in Galaxy Nine in the Trav-a-lab to survey and chart a deadly sea of liquid air for his space map. Bleep is determined to keep the site from claiming anymore victims, such as those aboard six Martian cruisers that recently crashed there.

What Bleep does not know is that Black Patch is around, and that upon being spotted, the pirate prepares for an ambush. As Squeak and Scratch survey in and around the ocean, one of the sights reported by Scratch is "one blinking eye", which is Black Patch's periscope.

Squeak is surprised by the report of an unusual object. Bleep checks and finds no such object, while Scratch re-checks and sees it again. As the other two believe he is "seeing things", Scratch is relieved of duty in order to rest.

Scratch's nose twitches, which is "a sure sign of...terrible trouble". Realizing that it is the eye, and that there is no chance for Bleep and Squeak to understand, a frustrated Scratch takes matters into his own hands. He is taking off in his space scooter when a torpedo launched by Black Patch is detected.

The Trav-a-lab's size prevents it from evading the threat. Scratch flies into the missile and manages to flip it over, reversing its path. Heading to the "eye", Scratch opens it up, letting the torpedo inside, where it takes down Black Patch. Bleep and Squeak now know that Scratch's "blinking eye" report was legitimate.
